The year 2011 will be a twice-graced period for the Catholic Church in the Philippines,
with the declaration of 2011 as “CBCP Year of the Youth” by the Catholic Bishops’
Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) in their 101st Plenary Assembly (July 2010),
and the 25th Anniversary of the CBCP-Episcopal Commission on Youth (ECY),
having been created last July 1986.
The CBCP Year of the Youth will serve to raise awareness about the youth and
promote the ministry among them, whose goals are…
TO ESTABLISH AND STRENGTHEN THE YOUTH’S RELATIONSHIP
WITH CHRIST TO PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR PERSONAL
GROWTH TO ENCOURAGE COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
The 25th Anniversary of the CBCP Episcopal Commission on Youth aims to
be, for the Catholic Church in the Philippines, a kairos-event…
TO LOOK BACK AT THE PAST | paglingon
+ To review and assess the Church’s role in her journey with the youth as sower,
nurturer and harvester of the faith
+ To revisit the history of youth ministry and acknowledge this ministry as a gift of
the Church to the youth
+ To look at and affirm the relationship of the ECY and the youth ministries of the
regions, dioceses and member organizations of the Federation of National
Youth Organizations (FNYO)
TO FOCUS AT THE PRESENT | pagdiriwang
+ To appreciate the youth as a gift to the Church
+ To celebrate the protagonism of theyouth, and
the Church’s priority and preference for them
+ To recognize the contribution of the youth ministry
and its ministers to the Church
+ To affirm KA-LAKBAY: Directory for Catholic Youth Ministry
in the Philippines, and its contribution to various levels of
youth ministry.
TO GAZE INTO THE FUTURE | pagtanaw
+ To “put out into the deep” of the youth ministry as offered by KA-LAKBAY
+ To empower and accompany the young to become more responsibly involved in
the transformation of Church and society.
“Dear young people, the Church depends on you!
She needs your lively faith, your creative charity
and the energy of your hope.” ~
Pope Benedict XVI to the youth of the world in his message for WYD 2011
